"Each endeavor we embark on gives us an experience which is as valuable as we make it. This was my first pageant, and definitely an unforgettable one as it strengthened my self-awareness to reach a greater potential. The event featured an array of confident, talented and accomplished young women, and I feel fortunate to have finished first runner up amongst them. I urge other girls to take advantage of such unique opportunities, to discover their full potential and to make an experience that will last a lifetime!"! Sonam Sharma - 1st Runner-up 2007
"When opportunities come, one learns to recognize the opening door. And, once that step towards the door is taken, a roller coaster ride filled with cheers, friendship, and learning emerges! I took the chance to take part in such a prestigious pageant and, with Gods grace, I was chosen. Yet, it doesnt matter that I won because if I hadnt made that first effort to make a foothold into the door, a worthwhile experience would have been lost. I would have lost my chance to connect to ravishing and bright young ladies of the Indian community, to grow as a confident and spirited competitor, and to perform in front of an esteemed table of judges and supportive audience. Life is about adventure and putting that extra bit of effort. This pageant came as the thrilling escapade that brought me one step closer to becoming a better Nikkitasha." Winner 2007 - Nikkitasha Marwaha
"It has been a wonderful experience participating in an event that
highlights our Indian heritage and culture. It was truly an honor being
recognized as a winner amongst so many talented and personable girls and it
is my hope that girls in the future will take part in such a memorable
event" - Parul Mehrotra, 2006 Winner
"Participating in the Miss India DC pageant this past year was an amazing experience. Not only did I meet wonderful young women but I also learned so much about my community, my culture, and even myself. Getting to know the other participants has helped me grow as I see how strong yet sincere the women of the Indian community are. I've had the oppurtunity to make friends not only for the summer but for life." Sarah Sood - First Runner-up, 2006
"The pageant was a very creative and rewarding avenue
through which young Indian American women could
rekindle the ties they have with their roots. It was a
wonderful opportunity to meet smart and interesting
young women, gain both confidence and poise, and just
have a wonderful time." Neha Jain - 2nd Runner-up 2006.
